Gujarat State Plastic Manufacturers Association (GSPMA) has initiated Environment Awareness Programmes for school children in various schools in Ahmedabad recently.

These programmes aimed at educating the students about littering habits and prudent use of plastics & its disposal to overcome the situation & help civic authorities in disposal of solid waste management. It also aimed at removing the misconception prevailing in the society about use of plastics in our day-to-day life. During the presentation, it was given to understand that growing population & consumption in the country has put severe pressure on natural resources & plastic is light in weight & offer a cost effective alternative.   Plastics – the material of 21st century is eco-friendly and protects the environment following its various usages. These programmes followed by live interaction held with students & faculty members also.

Till the date, presentations were made in reputed schools of the city like Maharaja Agrasen,  Sadhana, VRS, A-one, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sharda Vidyamandir, Divyapath International, Radiant  School of Science, to name a few. Overall 7,000 students covered in almost 15 school and many more in pipeline. It is also being planned to cover more schools in various cities of the State in near future.  In view of the response received during these programmes, it was also thought for celebrating Recycling Week after Deepwali in few schools. Also planning for reprocessing factory visits to ascertain the in-depth study.

These programmes being supported by Organization of Plastic Processors of India (OPPI) & technical assistance provided by The Indian Centre for Plastics in the Environment (ICPE), an autonomous body, set-up on recommendation of Task Force constituted by Ministry of Environment & Forest (MOEF). It is a nodal agency recognized by the Government of India to handle all issues related to Plastics & Environment in the country.


GSPMA organized Energy Conservation Workshops in co-operation with Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), Gandhinagar. These workshops were conducted by Soham Technologies, Vadodara. The following wokshops organized recently by the Association :-

These programmes aimed at providing knowledge to entrepreneurs as to how to reduce the production cost as well as reduce electricity bills and simple tips to conserve energy and minimize cost of energy. Arrangements were also made for GEDA VAN at the site of the workshop to provide technical assistance and practical knowledge.
